Art in Bloom will be virtual again in 2022. Opportunities for St. Louis area floral designers to be involved are:
Floral Design Challenge Contestant
- A spirited, race-against-time competition among floral designers to make the most creative, inspired, visually appealing arrangement interpreting one work of art.
- Floral material and containers provided by the Museum.
- Floral Design Challenge virtual program filming at the Museum is planned for Monday, January 10, 2022.
Art in Bloom Virtual Tour Presenter
- A virtual tour of floral arrangements inspired by works of art in the Museum, with insights and commentary from floral designers and curators along the way.
- Florists will be assigned the artwork they will interpret in December.
- Florists will supply their own floral materials and containers, in accordance with guidelines provided by the Museum.
- Florists bring finished “pedestal ready” arrangements to the Museum and participate in Art in Bloom Virtual Tour filming and a related small-scale in-person event on Monday, January 31, 2022.
Floral designers may apply for one or both of the opportunities outlined above, but will only be selected for one, to offer opportunities to as many florists as possible. Criteria for selection include: floral experience, design approach and capability, and public speaking/presentation skills. The Saint Louis Art Museum is committed to building diverse partnerships and strongly encourages applications from floral designers of color. As virtual program presenters, selected florists will be offered a presenter honorarium.
